Meditations of the inner mind

It's been quiet a while (almost 6 months) since I published a post in this blog page. I had rather been lazy to take time to type what was going on inside my mind, but then one might ask what brought me back to this page where I used to share almost all the things that went inside my head after a happening day. The reason being one book that I started reading recently (48 hours ago).

Before telling about the book I would like to explain the word Meditation: Many people think it is to sit down in a posture and close your eyes and think about and experience the almighty.  But actually do you find it? No, but what else? You can see is the real identity of yours and the thoughts that flow like a seamless river when you can remove all the worldly noises and concentrate on the silence created inside the mind. What you experience is a monologue of your mind or a dialogue between the two minds you have. To me meditation does not necessarily require the posture and closed eyes, any place and any time when you hear the monologue or dialogue and try to speak your mind inside you, you meditate.

The book being titled "The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius" is a collection of the thoughts penned down by the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius. He wrote the passages way back in 161-180 A.D., but when I read it today, I could relate to it and it had changed my perception towards quiet a few things if not all things. Marcus wrote down his thoughts and the conversations he had to himself. But how could this inspire me back to blogging? Actually Marcus did not have an idea of publishing it, but however he wrote down his thoughts, but decades later after his death they read his writings and published it, from then this is one of the best books that has broken perceptions and plateaus for centuries. 2000 years after its original version was written I can still get a perception broken, but had not Marcus written his thoughts, we wold not have such a wonderful piece of literature (Forgive me I never meant to compare my blabbering to his masterpiece passages). What seems idiotic to you might seem a better idea to someone else, so not only me I urge everyone who reads this to maintain at least  a journal of their thoughts, if not to someone else it will definitely be useful to you to identify the person you were in the past and know how much you've evolved.

So what do I write about? It would only be right to start again with one of the best passages written by him that is given in the intro of the book itself. The line being

"... the small cracks in the bread which is a mistake of the creator when it is being baked, but that pores and cracks are the ones that increase our appetite and the beautiful smell that comes from the olives when it is about to decay..".

The passage tells us that not everything is perfect but you've got to love the minor differences everybody is born with like the cracks in the bread, some call it a defect but only dew see the beauty in it. Same is the case with many of us, some short, some tall, some lean some fat everyone is born different. Very few try to embrace the differences but all the others treat it as a defect we are born with. You've got to love thy differences after all that's what makes you unique from others. When in school many of my friends would identify me from about a distance. When asked how they told me that when they saw a small face sitting on top a big body they could ID me. Yes that's one of my differences. I thought about it for some time, and then I decided however I cannot pull my face to become longer and bigger so I got to embrace it, however it helps my friends to easily identify me from a distance.

You can see everyone the guy with a long nose, that girl with a not so perfect tooth line. The perfect remedy to anyone who has difference is not to hide it but to show it off. What you thought would spoil your beauty will now help you compliment it.

Your differences will become your uniqueness if you can accept it. However these terms and conditions would be applicable for the differences on the exterior. In the interior every human was born to reciprocate forgiveness and affection. If you think you are different in that category and you have hatred and try to embrace it than to change it, then it would only become the one that condemns your beauty.

Will meditate again soon. :)

Being an Instant traveler

It's been almost a year and a half since I've written, so here I am to write about what I had experienced as a part of my job in the past year. My job is Marketing but above Marketing it's travelling. I even thought of this post whilst I was travelling.

When it comes to travelling, there are three types of people I know as to my knowledge:

1. The planned traveler : This is the person who when entering into the office, gets a call from his/her parents, the conversation being, "It's 20th August, the reservation for Diwali on November 22nd will begin today. Don't forget to book it". Yes a person who books his ticket in train for a travel 3 months prior to his travel.

2. The backpack traveler: Actually this is the person who travels for enjoying the travel itself. He has fun, visits new places, has a map in his hand and a backpack with trekking rope and shoes. Actually these are the gifted people to travel.

3. The instant traveler : This is the most cursed type. You enter into the office in morning and you get a call from your client, the conversation being, "Our CMD wants to meet you immediately, be here at 10.30 AM tomorrow", and there begins your turmoil to plan for the meeting next day while you complete the daily work piled up at office.

Me being the third category as my work demands me to travel around about 10 days a month. Though it sounds cool that I get travel to all parts of the country on a regular basis, read further to understand the delicate situation an instant traveler is put into.

PLANS??!! PLAN TO SPOIL :

I believe there is some strong connection between plans and travelling. If you are a person who needs to travel on short notice , then you better don't make any plans. I think making a plan with your friends or girlfriend will send some signals to your client to remember calling you. The moment you make a dinner reservation for the night or make Pakka plans for your friend's birthday party, the next call you will receive will be from your senior asking you pack your bag for the meeting tomorrow. It is always a walk on tight rope to make plans.

Try cancelling the dinner reservations made with your wife/girlfriend that night thinking that you'll need to travel that night, the meeting too will automatically get cancelled making you stay at home that night and ending up with plasters the next day.

RUN OUT OF WAYS TO SPEND TIME :

If you are travelling frequently, soon you'll run out of songs to listen, books to read or even movies to watch as you have already finished the recent series you bought as you didn't know what to do while travelling. Soon you'll end up staring at passer bys or the air hostess making it uncomfortable for anyone to cross your seat and become the weirdo on travel.

TRAVEL AT THE HIGHEST RATES :

One big problem if you plan for the night trip only during the afternoon is, you will find the ticket prices high as hell. The price of this ticket you saw three days ago has shot up to three times making you to crib about the ticket prices all along your travel.

TOURING AROUND THE CITY? AS IF THAT IS EVEN AN OPTION:

So I keep travelling frequently, and the first question I receive from anyone I meet is "That's cool, you get to visit the biggest tourist attractions frequently". Which makes me go furious. I have been to Delhi almost 6-7 times but I have seen only the India Gate once, that too when the taxi passed by it. Taj Mahal?? Who has two hours to travel when you even need to keep running inside the airport to catch your return flight.

GETTING A STABLE SLEEP :

Frequent travelling makes you sleep when there are rolling wheels under you so frequently that even when you sleep in your bedroom, you feel like travelling in a bus/train.

Okay there might be these much problems but still it is a cool thing to keep travelling as you will be able to meet new people every time and eat new dishes once in a while. There are also a few perks like catching a nap during the working hours, escaping calls through flight mode and getting to know which city has the best girls ( I'll write a detailed blog on that one later).!! .

Now time to take off. Dunno where I will end up being tomorrow, but sink in the moment. After all my job is just a representation of what life brings to us, a thrill and spoiling our plans and giving us better options.

Wish you all a happy Journey.
